Did You Know?
1 out of every 4 dying Americans is a Veteran!
We Honor Veterans is a program provided by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). These three organizations invite hospice providers, such as Accredited Hospices of America, to partner with them in an effort to focus on providing respectful and compassionate care for America’s Veterans.
Veterans often have unique needs, as they tend to have service-related illnesses, including PTSD, psychosocial issues and more. Accredited Hospices of America works with the Veteran’s Administration and veterans’ families and are honored to provide services to make sure that veterans receive the assistance they need.
The “We Honor Veterans” Program allows continuous collaboration between our hospice team and the Veteran’s Administration. Accredited Hospices of America strongly believes that those who have served our country should receive the highest standard of care and coordinated services when they face a serious illness. To this end, Accredited Hospice of America actively partners with the VA to help patients apply for VA benefits. Accredited Hospice of America also educates patients and families on which benefits are available, and work as a team with the VA’s medical staff. In many cases, veterans and their families have access to benefits from both the VA and Medicare. Our admissions and billing staff will help you access all the services to which veterans are entitled. Some veterans have unique medical and psycho-social needs at the end of their lives, and our staff receives specialized training in order to meet those needs.
